Middleham Falls

Emerald Pool
A short trail through woodland leads you to this natural bathing pool deep in the forest. The waters may be a bit chilly but it’s worth it. May be combined with other activities such as a hike to Sari Sari Falls or lunch on the East Coast to create a day excursion.
Titou Gorge: A crevice in which hot and cold streams intermingle, a swim in these crystal clean waters leads to a spectacular view of a waterfall. Located in the village of Laudat.

Explore the historic Cabrits National Park/Fort Shirley
You can’t escape history — even on Dominica. But you can escape to Fort Shirley, part of the Cabrits National Park and located on a scenic peninsula just north of Portsmouth and is considered Dominica’s most important historic site. This fortress is most famously known for a revolt by African slave soldiers in 1802, an event which would lead to freeing of all British slave soldiers in 1807.
Cabrits National Park
Perched on a forested, twin-peaked peninsula, Cabrits National Park contains the ruins of a military garrison used by British and French forces 1770-1854. Its centerpiece is Fort Shirley, which is surrounded by more than 50 major structures, including gun batteries, powder magazines, storehouses and barracks that housed up to 600 men. The park was established in 1986, Cabrits National Park occupies 1,313 acres and protects tropical forests, coral reefs and wetlands.
Picnic on a black sand beach (swim, snorkel, surf, or sunbathe)
Dominica has a number of beautiful beaches scattered along the East and West coasts. Where the east is rugged and windblown from the constant trade winds, the west is calm and drier. Most beaches are stone or sand, ranging from whitish/grey sand to black, a reminder of the youth of the island and it’s volcanic origins.
